There are people in the world who are willing to take big chances for short-term gain. For domainers, this could mean registering an obviously trademarked name. “Tinker Toys dot US” became available today. Wow! Big one for Hasbro and a product that has such recognition and history. I think I’ll drop Hasbro a little email.
Oh, the point of this post is to point out what names you should NOT register. This is one of them. I wouldn’t touch it with a $2 GoDaddy coupon.

Priceline.com is eliminating booking fees. Let’s hope the other online travel portals follow. Air travel has gotten so expensive recently, especially flying to Europe from the west coast.

There are more alternatives to domain parking being realized every day. Developing a parked domain still takes an effort, but there are a lot of resources out there that make it easier, including (of course) ways to continue monetize type-in traffic. The keywords for this are: cobrands, datafeeds, affiliate programs, custom stores, custom domains and widgets.
Widgets are HOT and can add a social networking dimension to your domain’s offerings. Social networks mean traffic and If you’ve got long tail generic domains with only a trickle of type-ins, these networks could give you a boost. Bang! The gun goes off and the rush to claim your name in the live.com space is on! What’s at stake? Well, no longer do you have to suffer as bill10whoohah@hotmail.com, you can get a nice shiny new email under the live.com moniker. One big gripe though, as it related to domain names, is why I don’t also get a reserved <myname>.spaces.live.com web address?
Here I am having to choose and cross my fingers for the same screen name. Oops, unavailable… lame.
